Ignite Changemaker Portal
Project Background
As the Digital Marketing Manager at Ignite Mental Health I led the launch a website that served as an online portal for 200+ college ambassadors (Changemakers) across 33+ states. The portal serves as a space for these Changemakers to interact with each other by contributing to various forum spaces, stay updated with happenings at the HQ and organize future marches to ensure mental health legislation.
The Process and My Role
My role as the project leader was to prototype and design the portal. I collaborated with the founder and the Design Thinking team to ensure the portal was user centric and followed the Ignite branding. As the only one with graphic and UI/UX design experience, I had to make sure that the portal functions were extremely intuitive and easy-to-use. We did this by creating CTA buttons that were bold and stood-out against the other content. Through conducting marketplace and user research, the team and I decided on the ideal branding for the portal. The contrasting color scheme gave the portal a youthful and bold look.
The Outcome
The final result was a beta version which was sent out to a population of 130+ college students. From the high engagement, the team and I concluded that the users had found the layout and navigation intuitive and easy-to-use. After sending out feedback surveys to a sample size of 100, we further concluded that the posted content was engaging and made the users want to come back.
Gained Insights
As this project was very hands on and depended on a lot of iterations, I learned how to juggle multiple tasks at the same time: from designing the actual portal to analyzing the user research. While designing the portal, I had to make sure that I was viewing the whole website through the lens of our target audience and base any creative decisions on that. Other than deep-diving into UI/UX strategy, I was able to advance my web design skills especially CSS and JavaScript.
